As fall approaches, our attention turns to the indoors. From cozying up by the fireplace with a hot cup of cocoa and a warm throw, to cooking a delicious dinner and sharing it with friends and family, to slipping into a hot bath of bubbly water and letting the days stresses melt away.
The idea of the fireplace has certainly changed with an elongated linear dimension and rock sets or glass embers replacing the traditional log sets. One of my favourites is the “Infinite” gas fireplace from the Marquis Collection.

The kitchen is truly the hub of a busy home and has become more than a place to cook and dine. It has become the central place for family gatherings, doing homework and entertaining. When space permits, I love using an island to clearly define the kitchen and allow the cook and the guests alike to be “part of the action”. An island can function as a low divider between rooms or can accommodate seating for 2 to 6 people.

Bathrooms are excellent “experience” spaces as the idea of having a spa in your own home is achievable; at least by creating a luxurious bathroom that will help you relax, refresh and feel like you’ve taken a little escape. A spa bathroom can simply be achieved just by changing the finishes to natural stones & glass in a palette of soothing colours inspired by the sand and sea, or varying shades of white. To really enjoy that relaxing soak after a long day, you can add a steam-shower or jetted bathtub to complete the spa experience.
