After completing his bachelor’s degree in University of Toronto, Derek spent 10 years in Ontario working many different jobs in different industries. With no luck in finding a career path he was passionate with, he decided to move back to the West Coast, the beautiful BC, in 2019. Through chance, he discovered his interest in VCC’s Architectural technology program.

After completing VCC’s Architectural Technology program, Derek started work at Synthesis Design in 2022 as a summer intern.

Derek is a clear lifetime learner, and his personality shows grit, the decision in turning him into a full-time employee as a residential designer was a no brainer!

Outside of the office, Derek lives an active lifestyle practicing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and has a side gig selling his leather crafts.
