The Cy Morgan Drafting and Design Scholarship is awarded to a student who showcases a passion and drive to pursue design and architecture at a post-secondary institution.
Cyril (Cy) Morgan is the legend behind our Cy Morgan Drafting and Design scholarship. He had an influential impact on the North Shore community through his over 33 years of teaching and mentoring. Cy’s influence on our Principal, Curtis, was fundamental in Curtis’ abilities to create Synthesis Design Inc, and as a result, a scholarship in his mentor’s namesake was established to contribute to the community and give students the same opportunity he was given. Cy’s passion and commitment to his students is forever reflected in the hundreds of students he taught, as well as now in the existence of Synthesis Design Inc. The Cy Morgan Drafting and Design Scholarship serves to exemplify this commitment to excellence.
In May of 2021, we were lucky to have met Leah Baggoo at Collingwood School during a Career Day presentation. She was inspired by each of our Designer’s unique paths to architecture and design. At this time, Leah was all set up to attend Queens University for sciences, but felt deep down that she wasn’t following a path of interest or passion. She engaged with us after our presentation and came into our studio to explore more about the role of a residential designer. Leah was inspired and excited, and decided to defer her acceptance to Queens while she developed her architectural design portfolio and applied to architecture programs across Canada.
We are so pleased with Leah’s determination to follow her passion since childhood – design. Leah will be attending the Architectural Studies program at the University of Toronto in Fall 2022.
We are very excited to support Leah, and can’t wait to see where she take her skills in the future.
