Brad, Pedro and Dom from our design team recently took part in a competition to design a microhome of 25 square meters.
Competitions like these are a fun departure into conceptual design and allows us to explore ideas outside of traditional residential design. Though we didn't win, it was a great team effort and exploration of outside the box concepts.
Our submission was for a microhome planned on three small tiers that included the entry, the kitchen and living and bedroom spaces. These microhomes would be positioned on 3D printed towers in relatively shallow bodies of water and could rotate up and down the tower. The towers doubled as a water collector, waver generator for power and incinerating toilets for waste. Each tower would be connected by 3D printed floating pads that can be connected together and provide docking for boats and lounge spaces.
What an incredible few months designing Micropelago! Now to start brainstorming for next year...
