WELCOME TO BIG ROCK CABIN
Big Rock Cabin sits on a rugged 4.7-acre cliffside on Gambier Island, offering sweeping views of Howe Sound. The site’s buildable space was limited, with the main cabin perched atop a massive bedrock formation and a smaller guest cabin positioned along a dramatic 50-foot rock face.
Access required extensive prep work, including clearing a driveway and transporting all materials by barge. The main cabin, designed to maximize views, features vaulted ceilings, a glass wall, and a 32-foot deck. Inside, a cozy loft, compact kitchen, and wood stove create a warm retreat, while durable plywood interiors and metal siding withstand the rainforest climate. Solar panels provide power.
The lower guest cabin mirrors this resilient design, offering a more secluded, tree-shaded experience. Recent additions include a large shed with a composting toilet, tool storage, a well system, and a shower room with an on-demand water heater. The property continues to evolve.
