STREAMSIDE HOME WITH TRANSITIONAL WEST COAST STYLE
The site called for a home that would fit naturally into its surroundings, while confidently conveying a transitional west coast style. Extensive use of natural materials defines the house, with fir posts and beams, cedar cladding, concrete, and natural stone playing key structural and aesthetic roles. Creating a sense of balance was key to the design; the visual weight of the stone-clad garage serves as a complement to the lighter forms of the gabled bays, and timber-framed covered decks.
The theme of balance continues inside, where the Main Floor Plan features both large open spaces geared to gathering and entertaining, as well as more intimate spaces for working, and fireside visits with friends and family. The contemporary staircase is the light-filled core of the house, leading to the Upper Floor and vaulted Master Suite, which is complete with views to the surrounding trees and the rushing stream that inspired the project below.
