WELCOMING “WHISTLER STYLE” HOME
The classic “Whistler Style” is characterized by lodge pole post and beam framing, open spaces, large wood windows, and the use of rugged natural materials.
This custom designed home makes use of the same architectural vocabulary, but gives it modern expression. The house is understated, elegant, and inviting. Designing on a site with a challenging shape, we worked to create two offset cubes connected by an angled bridged annex, to maximize the views of Whistler and Blackcomb’s slopes, and to create a private yet welcoming sense of entry.
The expansive outdoor room is open to the view and forms a seamless transition between indoors and out. Traditional lodge poles have been traded for smooth fir posts and beams, rough siding replaced with smooth horizontal cedar, and wood windows and doors replaced with sleek anodized aluminum.
